Activities

At GELI, learning English does not have to stop when you leave the classroom. We encourage you to join in the fun out-of-class activities that are available to all GELI students. GELI activities are a great opportunity for students to practice their English, make new friends and explore Australia.

GELI has two Activities Officers who organise and host a variety of events for GELI students in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast. The Activities Officers can also arrange excursions and travel for you at discounted prices. To see what activities are coming up join the GELI facebook page, check the monitors in the foyer of each English language centre or ask one of our friendly Activities Officers about upcoming events and activities.

Examples of GELI activities include:

• Day trips to Surfer's Paradise, the Sunshine Coast, Byron Bay etc
• Trips to theme parks including Sea World, Dreamworld, Australia Zoo, 
  Movie World and Wet’n’Wild
• Cultural events
• Parties and barbeques
• Dance classes
• Sporting activities such as ice skating and soccer tournaments
• Weekends away
• Volunteering at the Gold Coast marathon and other events
• Cultural morning teas
• Conversation club
• Whale watching and koala spotting
• Job-search workshops

In addition to all of the activities available through GELI, Griffith University also has many special interest clubs, societies and sporting teams, which you can join to experience university culture, practice English and have fun!
