Studying at GELI

GELI provides high-quality English language instruction to improve your English before your Griffith University degree, during your degree and for study, work, travel and everyday purposes.

Independent Learning

Each GELI centre has an Independent Learning Centre (ILC) where students can undertake additional English language practice before and after scheduled class times. These are dedicated facilities where guided independent learning can take place with the help and supervision of GELI staff.

Activities

GELI has two Activities Officers who are committed to making sure all GELI students experience Australian culture, make friends and have a great time. Student Support

Students at GELI are provided with a wide range of dedicated student support services. All the staff at GELI will be happy to help you and are there to make your time at GELI as enjoyable as possible. GELI also has dedicated International Student Advisors who are specially trained to provide assistance and advice to international language students with whatever problems you may be experiencing.

GELI Excellence Awards

The GELI Excellence Awards are designed to reward students for their participation and contribution while studying at GELI. GELI Excellence Award Winners receive AUD $1,000 and an iPad2. All GELI students are able to apply for the award every 5 weeks. See what previous winners said about receiving the award.

Teaching Staff

GELI’s English teachers are highly qualified, supportive, friendly and dedicated to providing you with the very best teaching and learning environment possible. Most of our English teachers have previously taught overseas. This international experience is key in providing expert teaching to students of different cultures and languages. As GELI is part of Griffith University, we are able to attract the very best teachers in the field. More than 80 percent of GELI teachers have postgraduate qualifications so students can be sure they are learning from the very best.

Classroom technology

GELI is a state-of-the-art learning facility and all of our classrooms are equipped with the latest information and communication technologies. We provide a learning environment that mixes the very latest in online and mobile learning with traditional face-to-face teaching.

Teachers use computers, data projectors and visualisers to enable English learning to be active and engaging. Teachers also make use of mobile technologies including MP3 players, mobile phones and tablet PCs to further enhance the learning environment.
