About Australia

Brisbane and the Gold Coast are located in the South-East of Queensland and are the two largest cities in the state. Both are both modern, clean, safe and friendly cities and have a pleasant sub-tropical climate. Summers are hot and humid with temperatures ranging from about 22°C to 30°C while winters are mild with temperatures ranging from around 12°C to 23°C. The warm weather makes it easy to enjoy the regions many outdoor activities including beaches, barbeques, parks, broadwater, lagoons, rainforest and hinterland. 

Brisbane is often called “the river city” due to the large river that winds through the city. Beautifully restored sandstone buildings and colonial architecture provide a backdrop to the modern skyscrapers rising out of Brisbane city centre. Brisbane is known as an artistic hub and there are many museums, art galleries and live music venues for residents to enjoy.  

The Gold Coast is known for its many beaches and for the main tourist and shopping district of Surfers Paradise. The main beaches on the Gold Coast are patrolled by surf lifesavers and there are many parks, free barbeques and bike and footpaths along the water for all to enjoy.
