Overview of IELTS
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the world’s most popular test of English for study, work and migration.
IELTS is accepted by most Australian, New Zealand, Canadian, British and American institutions for academic purposes. IELTS is also accepted by government agencies such as the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) and professional organisations.

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) tests the complete range of English language skills that will commonly be needed by students when studying English.
All candidates undertake the same Listening and Speaking modules. Candidates must choose to take either the:
- Academic IELTS test (suitable for candidates planning to undertake higher education study) OR
- General Training IELTS test (suitable for candidates planning to undertake non-academic and vocational training, work experience or for migration purposes).
The IELTS test takes approximately two hours and forty-five minutes.

IELTS Examination fee
The cost for sitting the IELTS exam is $330 GST free and $363.00 GST inclusive. Please refer to the below list to see if you will need to pay GST.

Official IELTS Practice Materials
The Griffith test centre offers practice test materials for the Academic and General Training modules of the test in a book with a CD. The Official IELTS Practice Materials costs $39.60 and is available for purchase in person at our centre.
Top Tips for IELTS Academic and Top Tips for General Training are available for purchase from our reception for $33.00 each.
