On-Campus Accommodation


On-campus accommodation is available at Griffith’s Nathan, Mt Gravatt and Gold Coast campuses. Student accommodation for Griffith’s South Bank campus is a short 11 minute bus ride away from campus. On-campus accommodation on the Gold Coast campus is operated by Griffith University Village. Please refer to their website for more information about on-campus accommodation on the Gold Coast.


There are many benefits to living on-campus including:

There are three different types of on-campus accommodation:


Catered Accommodation


Bellenden Ker College on the Nathan Campus and Mt Gravatt College on the Mt Gravatt Campus are the two options for catered accommodation at Griffith University campuses. Students rent a fully furnished, private, lockable bedroom in a dormitory. Students share bathroom facilities and common rooms with three meals a day provided in the college’s dining room. There is also a laundry which is free of charge (students must supply their own detergent).


Each student room contains:

  • Single bed
  • Cable internet access (additional charges apply for internet access)
  • Telephone (free on-campus phone calls)
  • Desk (with bookshelves) and desk chair
  • Wardrobe and cupboards
  • Heater
  • Please note: students need to bring their own linen


Self Catered Accommodation


There are three colleges on the Nathan campus that offer self-catered accommodation to students, Barakula College, Girraween College and Kinaba College. These colleges offer fully furnished flats for either four, six, seven or eight students. Students have their own private, lockable bedroom and share a kitchen, dining/lounge room and bathroom with their housemates. Students make their own arrangements for the purchase of food, cooking and cleaning. Each college also has a laundry which is free of charge (students must supply their own detergent) and a common room which provides entertainment or study facilities.


Each Flat Contains:

  • Convection microwave (also functions as an oven)
  • 4 x electric hotplates
  • 2 x fridges 
  • Lockable food storage cupboard for each student
  • Sofa/lounge suite
  • Dining table and chairs
  • Television
  • Iron and ironing board


Each student room contains:

  • Single bed
  • Cable internet access (additional charges apply)
  • Telephone (with free on-campus calls)
  • Desk with bookshelves and desk chair
  • Wardrobe and cupboards
  • Heater
  • Please note: students need to bring their own linen, cooking utensils and kitchen appliances

Post-Graduate Accommodation


Carnarvon College at Nathan campus provides self-catered accommodation for Griffith University post-graduate students. Carnavon College offers fully furnished flats for four students. Students have their own private, lockable bedroom and share a kitchen, dining/lounge room and bathroom with their housemates. Students make their own arrangements for the purchase of food, cooking and cleaning. Carnarvon college also has a laundry which is free of charge (students must supply their own detergent) and a common room which provides entertainment and study facilities. There is also a computer room and activity room with table tennis equipment and a piano.

 

Each flat contains;

  • Lockable food storage cupboard for each student
  • Sofa/lounge suite and coffee table
  • Dining table and chairs
  • Television

What to bring


Although students will have access to Griffith University computers, it is highly recommended you also bring your own personal computer/laptop/tablet computer for private study. Things you may also want to consider bringing include a TV or bar fridge (for personal use in bedroom), a network (Ethernet) cable to access the interent, a pedestal fan for the warmer months and a bicycle for transportation.

 

Essential items include:

  • Linen - bed sheets, pillow, pillow case, towels, blanket, doona/quilt/duvet and quilt cover*
  • Cooking utensils - crockery, cutlery, frying pan, saucepan (self-catered accommodation only)*
  • Kitchen appliances - kettle, toaster (self-catered accommodation only)
