Homestay

Griffith Homestay is a University based program that provides international students with the option of living with an Australian family whilst studying. Homestay options are available for all Griffith University campuses and are a great way for students to develop their English language skills and experience the Australian way of life.

Students rent a private, fully furnished room within the family’s home. Students share bathroom facilities and living dining and areas with their host family. All families will provide laundry facilities free of charge but students will be responsible for their own washing and ironing. All homestay families are located close to public transport however students are responsible for their own transport costs. Internet and telephone facilities are generally provided with the cost of these being negotiated with the host family.

There are four different types of Homestay accommodation:

• Fully-catered - includes breakfast, lunch and dinner daily (students may be expected to prepare their own breakfast and lunch with guidance from their host family). Weekly cost $250.00 in 2013.* 
• Self-catered - includes access to cooking facilities. Students are responsible for purchasing and preparing their own meals. Weekly cost $170.00 in 2013.*
• Semi-catered - includes breakfast and dinner daily (students may be expected to prepare their breakfast with guidance from host family). Weekly cost $235.00 in 2013.*
• Temporary - includes 10 days accommodation plus evening meals. Total cost $360.00 in 2013.  

*A once-off application fee of $195.00 also applies.

Airport Reception
