
1. How much is the test?
$330.00 (GST Free) and $363.00 if GST is payable (see the GST and Declaration Form (PDF 40K)). You must take all modules and cannot pay for a partial test.
2. What is the difference between Academic and General Training?
Refer to Information for Candidates (PDF 93K) or www.ielts.org. If you are unsure about which module to take, you should confirm this with the organisation where you are applying (e.g. DIAC, AHPRA etc). IELTS staff cannot provide advice in making this decision.
3. How can I book a test?
Refer to the Application Process page and check the availability on the IELTS Test Dates page of the website. Tests fill quickly so you should book as far in advance as possible.

5. Do I need my passport? / Can I use other ID?
Only a current (non-expired) passport is acceptable and the same passport you used in your application must be shown on test day.
If you get a new passport after your application and before your test, you must email us with the new passport number and bring the new passport and a photocopy of the personal details page to the test.
6. Do I need to provide passport sized photographs with my application?
Yes, you must provide two identical colour photographs that are not more than six months old. You must not wear glasses in the photographs that you submit.
7. Can I apply for someone else/can someone else apply for me?
Yes, if an application is completed in full and all the signatures are correct, the application will be accepted.
8. Can I book / pay online?
No. You can only apply in person at the IELTS Testing Centre, Level 5 M14, International Building, Mt Gravatt campus, Griffith University, Messines Ridge Road, Mt Gravatt QLD 4122.
9. Can I apply from outside Queensland?
You should first approach your nearest centre to apply. Please visit www.ielts.org for all Centre contact details.
10. What practice materials can I buy?
IELTS offers practice test materials of the Academic and General We also offer for sale Top Tips for IELTS, both Academic and General Training versions. The cost for Top Tips for IELTS is $33.00 and is available for purchase from our reception.
11. Do you offer IELTS test preparation classes?
Griffith English Language Institute (GELI) offers test preparation for IELTS. Refer to our website for more information.
12. Is there a waiting list for full tests?
There is no waiting list for full tests, and no spaces can be reserved without a processed application for an available test date.
13. How can I get a refund?
16. How do I know where to go?
You will be sent a confirmation letter by email four weeks before your test. This contains all the information about test day. Additionally, you can visit the Test Day Procedure page of this website and access maps and transport information.
17. When is the test held?
The listening, reading and writing modules are held on Saturday morning. You need to arrive by 8:00am. The speaking test is scheduled in the afternoon. Your speaking test time will not be confirmed until the completion of the morning test session.

The test is held in M14, International Building, Mt Gravatt Campus, Griffith University, Mt Gravatt QLD 4122. Maps and transport information are available on the Test Day Procedure page of the website.
19. What can I take into the test room?
Your confirmation letter will advise you what is allowed. A storage room is provided for bags, but you are advised not to bring any valuable items to the test.
20. What happens if I am sick on test day?
You may be entitled to a refund if your illness or accident is of a severe and serious case. You will need to provide appropriate documentary evidence dated on the test day. You will not receive a refund for any common illness (ie. feeling unwell or a cold etc.).You must come to the IELTS reception within five days of the test to apply for a refund and submit your evidence.
21. What happens if I am late on test day?
Registration is from 8:00am to 8:40am. Once the test process has started, you are not permitted to enter the test room. You will not be entitled to a refund or transfer.
22. When do I get my results?
Results are sent by mail to your home address 13 days after the test. You can not collect your results or receive your results by email, phone or fax.
You can search for your provisional IELTS result on the Griffith website. Your IELTS result is usually available on-line 13 days after your test date, and will remain available for 28 days thereafter.
Please note the preview of your IELTS result cannot be used as official confirmation of your test result.
23. How do I send my results to someone else?
You may nominate up to five eligible receiving institutions to be directly sent a copy of your results.
Only government departments (Immigration); Academic Institutions (eg colleges and universities); professional associations (e.g. Engineers, Medical Board etc) and employers can be sent results by us. Agents and family members cannot be nominated.
You need to supply full mailing details (including case /file number) on the application form.
24. Can I get more than one copy of my results?
No, candidates receive only one copy of their results. You should always keep your original results and request additional copies be sent to eligible receiving organisations
25. What if I change my address?
If you change your address before the test send an email from the account listed on your application form advising your full name, test dates and module and your new address details.
You can not change your address details after the test, so during registration on test day you must confirm the address for us to send your results.
If you move without telling us, we can not replace your test report form.
26. Can I get my results sent overseas?
Yes, but we do not recommend this option. We can not guarantee the delivery of mail to your country and will not replace any results that do not reach you.
If you would like your results mailed overseas you must provide a stamped, addressed international envelope before or at the test.
27. How long are my results valid for?
IELTS recommends that results should be recognised for up to two years, but you will need to confirm the validity with the organisation where you are applying.
28. How can I get an early speaking test?
You must put your request and reason in writing by email, and it will be considered. However, due to the large number of candidates, there is no guarantee that your speaking test will be early.
29. How can I get a mistake on my results corrected?
You must bring your passport and your original results form to the IELTS reception.
If you have made the mistake on your application form, we will not issue a new results form. If we have made a mistake, we will replace your results form with a new correct copy.
30. Can I get my results re-marked?
Yes, re-marks cost $176 and take up to 8 weeks. Please note that IELTS scores are carefully checked before final results forms are printed.
If you genuinely believe there has been a mistake in your score, you can apply in person for a remark of one or all modules of your test within six weeks of the test date.
At the IELTS reception you must pay the fee, submit your test report form and complete an ‘Enquiry on Results’. If your score changes, you will be entitled to a refund of the re-mark fee as well as an updated test report form.
