Aviation Language International Test of English (ALITE)

ALITE has been designed by specialists in applied linguistics with strong input from pilots and air traffic controllers with international experience. The result is a comprehensive and flexible testing service that allows air traffic controllers and pilots to be tested holistically, with respect to their area of work and/or the stage they are at in their career. 

The test uses authentically derived resources to assess productive and receptive language skills in routine and non-routine situations that are work related. While there is a strong focus on the candidate's ability to effectively communicate in the context of radio telephony, the testing service also gives the candidates the opportunity to extend their language well past this domain.

ALITE has received Civil Aviation Safety Authority approval to assess English language proficiency at all levels for flight crew. To date, candidates from more than 15 countries have been tested including France, Germany, Singapore and Morocco.
