The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has directed that the ability of pilots and air traffic controllers to communicate competently in a common language is paramount to safety and therefore must be a licensing requirement.
Griffith English Language Institute (GELI) has developed a specialised language program for aviation professionals. The Griffith Aviation English Training (GAET) program aims to develop the learner's receptive and productive knowledge of general English within the context of aviation. It has been designed primarily for pilots and air traffic controllers who need to gain an operational level 4 in anICAO compliant language proficiency test.
The program is organised into two modules, GAET and GAET PLUS. It is delivered regularly at our Brisbane and Gold Coast centres and at selected off-shore training organisations.
GELI also offers a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) approved, ICAO compliant language proficiency testing service for pilots and air traffic controllers: Aviation Language International Test of English (ALITE).
